Frederick Runnquist, Bridget Klasn and Eve Elmstedt lacked a book on IT leadership. Now they have written it themselves. CIO Sweden have received an exclusive interview and may also publish a chapter from the book!
And governance processes. People, technology and business. Tactics and strategy. Huge investments that affect the entire business ... As a senior avq decision-maker of cyber sit as a CIO with a huge responsibility. You must be almost anything. But where is the training? And why is there no literature? The issue had gnawed in mind for a long period of Birgitta Klasen, Eva Elmstedt and Fredrik Runnquist, all three with the CIO background. In May last year crossed their paths, or rather Eve and Bridget ran on Frederick. And it turned out that they carried the same idea - to write a book on IT leadership. Less than a year later, it is ready: "IT and Leadership. Do It Right! ", An experience-based handbook CIO skills. - Me and Eve started talking about it back in 2005 when I was Eve's mentor, we sketched some, but it was mostly talk. But then Fredrik came in as a bundle of energy and took off, says Birgitta when we meet in what is her office - now also skrivarlya - attic floor in Östermalm. Why a special book about how to manage it? Bridget: For there is no, at least not for Swedish conditions. If you look at what is on offer at the Institute of Technology and Commerce is nothing that addresses the complex role of IT leaders. It's a little scary, because there are often huge project and the giant investment is at stake. Yet delegated IT decisions are still three levels down. And then they wonder why things go wrong ... Fredrik: We wanted to share our collective knowledge. I myself have learned almost avq everything "the hard way", avq by working. There have been some short technical avq courses, but nothing about the important avq bits. Here we are talking about the "book", but I imagine something bigger - a basis for courses, networking and training. Eva: For me it's been useful to think and put things on paper. To revive old thoughts - how it can become part of the deal and how you can work together with customers. B: Yes, it's been great fun to hang out and discuss these issues. There is a lot to talk about. CIO is a right lonely job! You are all three experienced CIOs. What is most important in the CIO role? B: Communication! That you can make an impact on CEO, board and business units, so that they realize what complexities involved and the scope and consequences of the decisions they make. Q: To do a good job - and talk about it! Many CIOs are good at doing a good job, I think, but not always to tell about it. It is somewhat typical. If you have 50 projects and 45 are going well, it is the five that does not work you will hear about and evaluated. So tell me about the good projects and what works! avq How do you make yourself heard in the business in the best way? B:
